My Story
Hi, I’m Ell—a DJ, producer, music educator, and lifelong lover of sound in all its forms. I started my DJ journey during the 2020 lockdown, allowing me to express myself creatively within an uncertain world. I DJ not just to play music, but to connect with it on a deeper level, and I love to share that joy with others.
Today, I offer personalised DJ lessons in Bristol, helping others to DJ through a supportive, creative and community-focused approach.
Over the years, I’ve learned that DJing isn’t just about mixing or playing to a crowd— it’s about self-expression, creativity, and building community through music. My private DJ lessons are designed to help you develop technical skills while also finding your sound and relationship to music.
My journey with vinyl mixing began in February 2023 - after the first session I was hooked and immediately started collecting records. I specialise in mixing genres like jungle, breakbeat, tekno, tribe and acid techno. I have an extensive and innate knowledge of electronic music. Whether you're looking for beginner DJ lessons, want to learn vinyl mixing, or develop your style as a more experienced DJ, lessons are tailored to your goals. And if you're not sure which genres you want to mix - that's fine too! We can figure it out together.
My Teaching Philosophy
My teaching style is person-centred, positive, and all-rounded. Every student is different, so each lesson is designed around your learning style, whether you're taking beginner DJ lessons, developing mixing techniques, or exploring vinyl and digital DJing.
We’ll cover the technical skills you need to mix confidently - including beatmatching, transitions, music selection and mixing - whilst also diving into the bigger picture: music history, genre exploration, creative storytelling through DJing, and how music can be a mindful, confidence-building practice.
Whether you’re dreaming of playing live, creating mixes for yourself, or simply deepening your relationship with music, you’ll find a welcoming, judgement-free space within my private DJ lessons. My goal is to help you not just play music, but truly connect with it—and discover your own unique sound along the way.
