A 50-minute 1:1 DJ lesson designed to give you a solid, practical introduction to mixing on Pioneer DDJ-400s using Rekordbox.

 

In this session, you’ll learn the core foundations of DJing in a clear, hands-on way. We’ll cover:

• Track selection – how to choose songs that actually work together

• Beatmatching – matching tempo and timing by ear and using visual tools

• EQ control – blending tracks smoothly without clashes

• Phrasing – understanding when to mix for clean, natural transitions

• Rekordbox basics – navigating your library, cue points, and preparing tracks

 

You’ll be actively mixing throughout the lesson, not just watching. This helps to build confidence on the decks from the start.

Each lesson is tailored to your goals, whether that’s:

• recording your first 1-hour mix

• learning enough to practice confidently on your own

• or developing a specific sound or style

 

No prior experience is needed — we’ll work at your pace and focus on what you want to get out of it.

In this session, you’ll learn the core foundations of vinyl DJing in a clear, hands-on way. We’ll cover:

 

• Turntable etiquette – how to handle records, needles, and equipment properly

• Cueing – finding and preparing the right starting point in a track

• Beatmatching by ear – matching tempo and timing without visual aids

• Pitch control – understanding how to adjust and maintain speed

• Mixer basics – blending tracks smoothly using faders and EQ

• Buying records – where to find music and what to look for

• Record grading – understanding vinyl condition and quality

• Vinyl culture – context, history, and developing your own taste

 

You’ll be actively mixing throughout the lesson, not just watching. This helps to build confidence on a vinyl setup from the start.

 

Each lesson is tailored to your goals, whether that’s building your record collection, playing your first vinyl set, or gaining the knowledge to invest in your own turntables. We'll work towards it together.

A 6-week 1:1 DJ course designed to give you a structured, in-depth introduction to DJing.

 

Choose to learn on either vinyl (Technics 1210s) or digital (Pioneer DDJ-400s with Rekordbox), depending on your interests and goals.

 

Across the course, you’ll build your skills step-by-step in a clear, hands-on way. We’ll cover:

 

• Core DJ fundamentals – understanding equipment, workflow, and setup

• Track selection – choosing and organising music that works together

• Beatmatching – developing timing and control (by ear on vinyl, with/without visual aids on digital)

• EQ and mixing – blending tracks cleanly and confidently

• Phrasing and structure – knowing when and how to transition

• Library building – sourcing music and developing your sound

• Recording – planning and capturing a cohesive mix

 

Each session is practical and interactive, meaning you’ll be mixing from the very beginning while building confidence week by week.

 

By the end of the 6 weeks, you’ll:

• Feel confident practicing independently

• Record your first 30-minute mix
